Welcome Parents & Students!

A little bit about Mrs. LaCaze...

 Background & Education

My name is Danna (Thomas) LaCaze. I am originally from Chestnut, La. I've attended Goldonna Elem, Lakeview Junior/Senior High, and Northwestern State University during my educational career. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Sociology/Psychology and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I am certified to teach K-12 Special Education. Even though I've only been teaching for four years, I have learned more than I woluld have ever imagined. I can honestly say I love my job and enjoy going to work every day. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing improvement and growth in my students. I've worked with K-3rd grade in the past, and currently work with middle school students (4th-8-th). I've been fortunate in my teaching experiences, and have been able to work with a wide range of students. I do not view "children with disabilities" as a problem to fix. In fact, I do not believe they have "problems"...they simply learn differently than the average person. Often times, teachers will forget that not all people learn the same way. Special Education resources provide a variety of teaching styles to meet the needs of children who learn differently. I've never had a student that could not learn. They may not learn as fast as others, but everyone can learn!

Family & Hobbies

My husband and I live in Natchitoches, La. We have two dogs, a boxer (Josey) and a yorkie (Remi). We both love to travel, and try to take trips often. I've been to 28 of the 50 states and 7 foreign countries. We even got married in St. Lucia (West Indies). We also like to go snow skiing, scuba diving, splunking, hunting, fishing, and anything else fun!
